Extensive research for better, faster cures
Our experts are heavily involved in research and clinical trials in pediatric nephrology and kidney transplantation as part of their dedication to advancing the field.

In order to provide our patients with the best care, we are actively involved in clinical research. The members of the division participate in a variety of clinical research endeavors across a spectrum of topics. We are involved in multi-center funded studies, a Midwest Pediatric Nephrology Consortium, national multi-center quality initiatives and investigator initiated studies. Topics are vast and include neonatal hypertension, improving renal outcomes, transplantation and many more. Studies include local, national and international collaborations with funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), national foundations and private sources.

We also participate in clinical trials, offering children with complicated diseases access to novel therapeutics while developing data necessary for eventual FDA pediatric certification. Many of these trials are done in collaboration with other divisions within Cohen Children's Medical Center. We feel that participation in clinical research initiatives offers children and their families the opportunity to benefit from a novel approach to treatment and improve their well-being and quality of life. Simultaneously, this participation can advance knowledge and unlock breakthroughs that may help other children in the future.
