Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation

About us

Our team is composed of highly trained, interdisciplinary specialists who provide the most advanced care for physically disabled children and adolescents.

Many medical conditions result in diagnoses that identify physically disabling disorders. Our mission is to help children become as independent as possible. Emphasis is placed not only on normalization of your child’s physical function, but also on enhancement of their self-image.

Through the Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation, children are evaluated on an inpatient and outpatient basis. After obtaining medical and other information from your child’s physician, the team assesses the extent of your child’s abilities and disabilities and develops an individual treatment plan based on the findings.

The treatment goal of pediatric rehabilitation is to help your child achieve their maximum level of function and development. The team will develop home exercise programs and goals with your child and your family in mind. As your child proceeds through the program, the team will meet regularly to review progress and revise treatment goals. This coordination of treatment is critical for achieving the best possible outcome. The team approach facilitates communication with your child’s local providers of pediatric, social and educational services to assist you in obtaining entry into appropriate community services. If your child requires rehabilitation, your primary care physician will be an important member of the team and is regularly updated on your child’s progress.
