Our pediatric surgeons are involved in basic science research at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, with the goal of preventing chest wall conditions from developing and developing better treatments. Patients and their families have an opportunity to participate in and/or support these efforts if they desire. Some of our active areas of interest include:

  • Research in tumor biology and anti-tumor therapy
  • Investigating the human response to inflammation and trauma, and ways to modify that response

We also regularly collaborate with other leading children’s hospitals to share data and evaluate outcomes in pediatric surgery. Some conditions are somewhat rare, so by combining efforts with other large surgical programs, we can expand our knowledge and expertise and provide the best possible care for our patients. We constantly monitor and review our methods and outcomes to assure that our patients are receiving optimum care.
